Remember To Laugh

It is often difficult, in times such as these, to find the silver lining. To see the light at the end of the tunnel or even to take the time to laugh at something silly. As someone who used to be incapable of doing these things, even in the best of times, I can honestly tell you there is nothing more important in the world than a good laugh.

I was going through a rough spell yesterday where all I (an introvert) wanted to do was be around people. You know things have gotten serious when even the introverts are done with this quarantine. I scrolled through my Instagram in a helpless haze and Big Brother must have sensed my distress because it came through for me in the form of a Netflix advertisement.

For those of you who have not heard of Taylor Tomlinson, stop what you’re doing. I mean it. Close this window, open up your Netflix app and save her stand-up comedy set to your ever increasing List of things to watch. Have you done that? Ok. You may now resume reading this post.

I haven’t laughed as hard as I laughed on Sunday in a long time. And the world needs a little laughter right now. Things are hard. A major event in my life was postponed for several months because of all this and the ripples of that change affected several other parts of my life to the detriment of the whole. It took me a couple of days to pull my shit back together.

When the masks drop in an airplane they ask that you secure your own mask first before looking to help others. That applies to life in general. If you don’t take care of yourself first you won’t be any good to those around you.

So laugh, love, and live a little. Just make sure, for the time being, you’re doing all that living with a heaping help of social distancing.

Bye for now!
