I may not look it, but I am of Middle Eastern descent. Palestine to be specific, on my Dad’s side. It’s something that usually comes as a shock to people as I am so pale that my skin is just about as bright as the Beacons of Gondor when I’m out and about on a sunny day. But here I am, a slap in the face of genetics.
Anyway, the Palestinian community has a newsletter it puts out every month and I was lucky enough to be featured. I figured I would get a column, maybe two. What I didn’t anticipate was a whole page to myself:
Exciting, I know. I looked at my picture and that of my book printed on that glossy paper and just about died from happiness.
I have well documented my efforts to get the word out there about my book and I am eternally grateful to the hard working individuals who maintain the Hathihe Ramallah magazine that felt my debut novel was worth not just a mention but a WHOLE PAGE! I’m still a bit giddy just thinking about it.
That’s really all for today. It’s short, but oh so sweet, and I hope you all join me in celebrating!
Bye for now!
I just finished reading The Sword and Shield last night! It was one of the very best books I’ve read in a very long time! I fell in love with Ezra. Thank you for writing it and sharing it with us. I fervently hope you are writing another that will be published soon! And another…and another… Congratulations on the article. It is well deserved! I can only imagine your excitement.
